Birkenhead is one of the biggest towns on the Wirral and the housing reflects its history. The terraces around Hamilton Square, the largest Grade I listed square outside London, were originally designed to rival Edinburgh's New Town. There are rows of workers' cottages in the older streets near the docks, and 1930s council-built stock further out that's now mostly owner-occupied. The plumbing in some of these houses has been there since the building went up, and it shows.
We've worked as a bathroom fitter in Birkenhead for years and we're used to what these houses throw at us. Narrow access through hallways that won't fit a bath without taking the door off. Soil stacks boxed in behind walls that haven't been opened in decades. Cast iron pipework that weighs a ton and needs cutting out carefully. None of that is a problem if you know the houses, and we do.
We cover all of CH41 and CH42, from the town centre out to Tranmere and the edges toward Prenton. We're based in Eastham, about ten minutes away.
